About Me:

My journey in healthcare began in 2005, when I had completed my CNA and HHA courses in Florida. After moving to Indiana in 2010, I completed refresher courses and earned my HHA certificate and CNA license. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving in a variety of settings, including nursing homes, assisted living, private duty care, dementia units, and Parkview Hospital as a Patient Care Tech. Helping others has made a profound impact on me throughout this journey. I remember watching my grandmother selflessly care for veterans in her home—those early memories left a lasting impression and shaped me into the caregiver I am today. My grandmother's compassion and commitment inspired me, and I feel truly blessed and honored to now be entrusted with providing that same level of care to those who need it most. I’ve also been honored to be inducted into several distinguished honor societies, including Sigma Tau Delta, Sigma Alpha Pi, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. These recognitions reflect my dedication not only to my work, but to continuous learning and personal growth. Caring for others is more than a career—it’s a calling, and one I embrace with gratitude and heart.

My Hobby

The Importance of Having a Hobby: Finding Fulfillment Through Passion and Accomplishment

In a world that often demands constant productivity and performance, having a hobby is more than just a pastime—it’s a vital part of personal well-being. Whether it’s painting, gardening, writing, crafting, woodworking, or even coding for fun, hobbies provide a necessary space for creativity, relaxation, and growth.

Why Hobbies Matter

Hobbies serve many important purposes in our lives, far beyond filling spare time. They contribute significantly to mental health, self-development, and even professional performance.

1. **Stress Relief**

Engaging in a hobby allows your mind to shift gears. It offers a break from work or daily responsibilities and gives you a chance to unwind. Studies have shown that hobbies can reduce anxiety, improve mood, and lower levels of depression.

2. **Creative Expression**

Many hobbies are a form of self-expression, allowing you to tap into your imagination and explore new ideas. Whether you're composing music or assembling a model airplane, you're building something uniquely yours.

3. **Skill Development**

Pursuing a hobby often involves learning and mastering new skills. Over time, this can increase your confidence and make you more adaptable in other areas of life, including work.

4. **Personal Identity**

Hobbies are deeply personal. They help define who you are outside of your job or social roles. They reflect your interests, values, and personality—and that sense of identity contributes to overall life satisfaction.

The Power of Accomplishment

Few things are as satisfying as completing a personal project. Whether it's finishing a book you’ve been reading, completing a painting, or finally getting that homemade bread to rise perfectly, hobbies offer tangible proof of progress and achievement.

These moments of accomplishment bring:

Pride: You've created or completed something with your own effort and creativity.

Motivation: Success breeds enthusiasm. Finishing one project often inspires the next.

Confidence: Each achievement is a reminder of your capabilities and commitment.

Joy: There’s a deep, intrinsic happiness in seeing something come to life through your own hands and heart.

Final Thoughts

In a fast-paced, results-driven world, hobbies remind us to slow down, explore, and enjoy the process. They enrich our lives with color, purpose, and fulfillment. The sense of accomplishment that comes from completing a project—no matter how big or small—is a powerful affirmation of personal growth and resilience.

So whether you're picking up an old passion or discovering something entirely new, remember: hobbies aren’t just optional. They’re essential to living a well-rounded, satisfying life. And every time you finish a project, you’re not just completing something—you’re celebrating yourself.
